Theres nothing better than the smell of fresh grounded coffee to me. Give me a cappuccino with vegan milk foam, maybe a piece of cake, and I’m the happiest girl on earth. Seriously, there’s nothing I enjoy more than discovering and checking out new coffee shops. Over the past few years I became an expert on where to find the best coffee -and the nicest atmosphere- in Vienna. Lucky you, I did all the search and testing already for you, so here are my top 5 coffeeshops in Vienna.

1. Phil

Gumpendorfer Straße 10-12

The first time I entered this wonderful coffee I thought I’ve found a bonanza. With all its vintage chairs and tables, its numerous piles of books and the smell of fresh coffee and cake I instantly fell victim of its charms. While waiting for ones order you can delve among books or look for a vintage chair that would fit into your living room -yes you can buy them-how cool?!-. They also serve breakfast from 9.00 to 16.00.

Best orders:

- Capuccino

- Matcha Latte

- Chai Latte

Check list:

- vegan milk (soy)

- sockets

- wifi

2. Cafe 7Stern

Siebensterngasse 31

No matter if morning, midday, or night, you won’t leave this place unsatisfied. This is the place where all university students and instagramers meet. -Understandable with all the pretty looking dishes- In the morning you can have avo on toast, at night it’s a fancy chiller bar.

Best orders:

- Shakshuka

- fresh ginger-mint tea

Check list:

- vegan milk

- sockets

- wifi

- instagram able

3. La Mercerie

Berggasse 25

This little coffee makes all french hearts beat faster. The smell of fresh baguettes, croissants and pain au chocolats makes your mouth watering. The espresso tastes like a real Parisian one as do all patisseries. You won’t leave this coffee without a baguette under the arm.

Best orders:

capuccino/espresso

croissant

baguette

Check list:

- vegan milk (soy, almond)

- wifi

- calm atmosphere

4. Burggasse 24

Burggase 24

The special feature of this coffee is that it’s actually a vintage shop with a coffee inside. Most of the goods are very extraordinary and a little bit pricy, but sometimes you find the perfect missing piece -like denim jackets-. The coffeeshop is also furnished with vintage chairs and tables what gives it this extra “hip“ look.

Best orders:

- chai latte

Check list:

- vegan milk (soy)

- calm atmosphere

- wifi

- instagram able (especially bc of the furniture)

5. Coffee Pirates

Spitalgasse 17

This coffee is even more flooded with university students than Cafe7Stern because it’s situated directly towards the university of Vienna. However, this makes it to the perfect place to get some work done because almost all clients study or work on their laptops. The tip of the iceberg? They have delicious vegan and gluten free cakes.

Best orders:

- matcha latte

- capuccino

- all the cakes :)

- chia pudding (vegan)

Check list:

- vegan milk (oat)

- vegan treats

- wifi

- sockets

- busy atmosphere

I hope you enjoy the coffee shops I suggested :) Leave in the comments which one you like best or if you have further recommendations.

Happy coffee drinking !

Bisous,

Liz
