It’s Monday the 3rd of September and that means for everyone between the age of 5 and 19 to wake up from the hibernation, set the alarm clock and to be productive again because school starts here in Vienna. Since me and Lou are going through this routine for already 11 years, we know what will approach to us, in contrast to all those who will hold a school cone full of goodies in their hands today for the first time. However, even for us, after all these years -more than half of our lives- the beginning of a new school year is even exciting and full of expectations.
In school, time doesn’t pass like it would normally does. Or it should does. A day doesn’t long from 9 am till 6 pm but from 8 am till 2 pm, weeks don’t go from Monday to Sunday but Monday to Friday and the year doesn’t start on January the first and ends on December the 31st, no it starts on the first Monday of September and ends with June the 30st.
What I want to say is that today is kind of New Years Eve for all of us students. A day we make new resolutions -mine has been being more organized since day one of school -still working on that- make new friends, try out new things, make new experiences, be besties with the teachers again and find the perfect agenda for the upcoming school year. -the try to be organized, more an alibi though- And although everyone wants to deny it by grieving because of the end of beautiful two months full of sleep ins and Netflix marathons, the excitement, motivation, anticipation and hope for a new beginning in the air is almost even touchable when going through the school doors.
I, too, use this new school year -the last „real“ and full school year - as a new beginning for showing the best me I have and start another year trying to fulfill all my resolutions. So here’s my resolution list for this years school year:
being organized aka using my agenda (always!)
doing homework in time
using my time wisely - plan the time you have to learn for exams
not always doing everything last minute !!!
being attentive and writing down important things so I don’t have to ask 100 people the day before
being nice, kind, helpful, smart and openminded
not judging anyone too early
also thinking of myself and what’s best for me when I need it - not always doing what teachers expect you to do
always being open for new ideas and compromises
What about you? What are your resolutions for the new school year? How do u celebrate the new start? What is your New Beginning?
Bisous,
