We have to stop it - Comparison

Comparison is a huge thing among our generation. We are comparing ourselves 24/7 to others. Even if we don’t notice it there’s a voice in our head which tells us that we are too thick, too thin, too small or too tall. Seriously now, how often have you been standing in front of the mirror, comparing yourself with this perfect instagram pictures from the prettiest model with a flat stomach and long thin legs you keep imagine in your head. I did -do- this, too.
But at one point, I took a step back and asked myself what the hell I was actually doing? My body is perfectly fine the way it is, why am I hating some parts of it instead of embracing my uniqueness? Why am I always focusing on the parts i don’t like about my physique instead of focusing on the things I love about my body, my character, my strengths, MYSELF. I think nearly everybody has once come to this point in his or her life at which you hate yourself for hating yourself.
Nowadays it’s so easy to get caught up in the abundance of instagram pictures which illustrate the most perfect lives. But one should never forget that social media isn’t somebody’s real life. It’s still an internet platform. Nobody would post a picture on which he or she is bloated, looks ugly, spends the night in an horrible hostel or has a fight with a family member or friend. What I’m trying to say is that we compare our real lives with other peoples social media life - best side of life. We pick out the most epic pictures and feel bad about ourselves. And yes, this is human. And yes, I do this myself. And yes, it’s easier to wright about all these things than trying to change something about ones own behaviour. But do we really want to live in a world where everybody is comparing him/herself to another or do we want to cherish everyones flaws and weaknesses, curves and edges?
I know how hard it is to stop comparing oneself with others, but at least I try and so should you. Look into the mirror and focus on all the things you love about yourself - your body. As time goes by you will love your disliked ones, too.
Bisous,
